Day Four, 361 To Go

January 4, 2013

Today we went for our run a bit later then usual.  Derek had a play date with a neighbor.  Her name is Claire.  Claire is Derek's bestest friend EVER!  When their play date ended, Claire came over our house.  I guess it was a split play date.  Anyway, to make a long story filled with crying, running around and breaking things short, by the time her dad, Bill, picked her up, it was already after 7:00pm and it was dark and a bit chilly.

Honey was a bit reticent to go, but I dragged her complaining butt out of the house and we did our run.  As you can see below, our times were a bit faster today than yesterday (no 160lb stroller), but still, the times are well short of my normal running speed.  We ran niiiiice and slooooowwwww.  You can't even call is LSD (Long Slow Distance) running...perhaps we can call it SSD (Short Slow Distance).  The good thing about it is it is giving my body time to get used to this running every day thing.  Hell, we have 362 days left, so we have time to pick it up.

Honey would tell you that today was too fast, and I would tend to believe her due to the heavy panting I heard most of the way.  We were either running too fast, or she was joggerbating (masturbating while running).  For the sake of her dignity and my life, we'll just say she was running too fast.  She did run the whole 15 minutes without stopping again, so I am very proud of her.  I told her it will get easier as time goes by, but she just said, "Fffff.....ffffuuu...ffffuuuucc.....uuuu."  I stopped her there.  I didn't want her to pass out and I didn't get what she was saying anyway.  She does speak two languages, so perhaps she was speaking in Portuguese and I just didn't get it. Oxygen deprivation can confuse you, you know.

Here are our numbers for the day:
Time: 15:00
Distance: 1.13 miles
Pace: 13:14/m
Max Pace: 11:24/m
Calories: 107
Avg HR: 107
Max HR: 114

Just to counter the snickering I can hear from all of you, I'll post my times from my last race, a triathlon where I got 2nd place in my age division (and scored a slot at the age group national championship...by the way!!)

Battle of the Bridges Sprint Triathlon
Distances: .25 mile swim, 15.9 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Terrain: Mostly flat bike with two bridges for hills, Two bridges on run

Overall Place: 23
Age: 40
Time: 1:22:32
Swim: 8:41
Rank: 37
T1: 1:28
Bike: 46:02:00
Rank: 48
T2: 1:53
Run: 24:29:00
Rank: 26

So, as you can see, I don't completely suck!  I do suck on the bike though.  I don't know why I find it so hard to ride well, but I do.  Perhaps it has something to do with not riding almost ever?  Anyway...

Time to log off and enjoy some alone time with Honey.  Until tomorrow...

Run for life!!
