Its Sunday, and y'all know what that means. Yes, it's time for the long run. The problems I will face on this run are multitudinous (I'm pretty sure that is a real word.) First, I got almost no sleep. You know how it is when you sleep in a new place in a new bed. On top of that, my allergies were abating, but they were still bothering me. So I had congestion which was helped by the nasal spray along with an itchy throat and sneezing which was helped a bit by the allergy medicine. Worst of all, was the cold! It is still winter here, and although it doesn't get as cold as, say, in the Northeast of the US, it does get down to about 50 degrees. That might not be that bad if you had HEAT! Houses in Brazil do not have heat or AC. So you need to use lots of blankets. We did along with a cozy electric blanket. The problem was my head was out and it didn't like the cold one bit.
Most of the day we lazed around doing nothing except playing with the kids, having lunch, talking, etc. By the time I knew I needed to go for my run, I was feeling miserable with a huge headache. Of course I never considered not going, but I decided to go for a short 25 minute run instead of the 60+ minutes I was scheduled for.
Since we traveled to the future yesterday (queue trippy music...you get the picture) you know about my GPS debacle. I'll spare you a rehash. Once I got myself ready, I got moving. I had no idea where I was going, so I just ran. About 20 minutes into the run, my sinuses started to loosen up. I decided to do more than 25 minutes. I figured by the time anyone got nervous about me being gone, I'd be back and all would be well. As you can see, I ended up doing 46 minutes. I could have gone much longer, but I didn't want anyone to worry since I said I would be back in 25.
I ran up and down towering hills and I did a bunch of the distance in the circuit I ran on Saturday which consists of a loop which is about .35 miles long. Half of it is slightly uphill and half is slightly downhill. It gives you a nice workout, certainly better than any roads in Florida. The run also circles a small lake with ducks and other animals. It is very peaceful.

Here are my numbers:
Time: 46:19
Considering the terrain, I am happy with that pace. The weather is much cooler here now so there is no humidity to worry about and even in the middle of the day when it is hot, it is only about mid 70s. I love it. I could do without the cold nights, but the days are pleasant.
Tomorrow I go to Honey's beach house in Ubatuba. I will get to run on the beach which can be very challenging. I am looking forward to it!!
