Something is wrong with me today. I should clarify, I mean physically. Psychologically, I am just fine (just don't confirm that with anyone I know.) How do I know that something is wrong? I'll tell you.
Other than the fact that I still don't feel 100% from my travel, I'd say the biggest indicator was the fact that I pretty much bonked on my 25 minute run today. Actually, I was done after 15 minutes. Of course, I finished my run, but it was not fun or easy or probably a good idea.
Here are my numbers:
Time: 25:00

Here are my numbers:
Time: 25:00
Distance: 2.54 miles
Pace: 9:51/m
Max Pace: 8:07/m
Calories: 232
Avg HR: 121
Max HR: 137
At first glance, these numbers don't look so bad. However, I started my run off really well. I was running 8:30 miles for the first 15 minutes. I decided about 13 minutes in that I should scale back a bit because I figured I wasn't fully rested. So, I slowed down a bit. Then a couple of minutes later, I started to feel a bit dizzy and really hot. I stopped and walked for a second and I felt really strange. I got very hot and tingly all over.
I have no idea what was wrong, so I just walked it off for a minute and started running again. I had to stop maybe 5 more times in the last 10 minutes. I just wanted to get through the run and go rest. As soon as I got home, I lay down on the floor and slept for like 10 minutes. I got up, and showered and ate and I felt almost human.
So what is wrong? My guess is that I am over tired and possibly I may be at the beginning stages of Overtraining Syndrome. I did the test in this link, and I appear to fall in the beginning stages. So, what does that mean? That means I need to take it easy for a while. How will I do that since I need to start running 30 minutes a day AND I have a race this weekend? First, I will avoid long runs for a few weeks. Second, I will run easy as many days out of the week as I can.
Will it help? I hope so...we'll see how I feel tomorrow. Maybe I am just sick. You know how it is after you travel, your immune system is always a bit weaker and maybe I just have a bug. Stay tuned..
