Day 333, 32 To Go

November 29, 2013

Ahhh...the day after Thanksgiving...time to rest and digest, and maybe do some Black Friday shopping...or not.  I have to work!  No rest for me.  I won't complain too much because some people had to work yesterday!  I'm not talking about people in fields that never get a day off like law enforcement, fire safety, medical and our armed forces.  No, they deserve our respect because they chose a field that never gets rest and because they put their lives on the line to protect us.  I'm talking about those regular folks who work retail.  They used to get off on Thanksgiving to spend time with their family.  Many of these people work two or three jobs and very rarely get family time.  They are getting even less now.  So, when you are out shopping, be nice to them.  They help make your Holiday season merry!

Of course, if you ask them for help and they are useless or won't help you, then by all means, have at em'!

Back to my Friday.  I work at a desk.  I sit down all day on my ass, which by the way, has been expanding lately.  I have taken advantage of the Holiday season by eating too much.  My goal between now and Christmas is to tone it down a little so I can reshape myself easier come the new year.  Working at a desk all day will never help in that department, that's for sure.  I do get up multiple times a day to walk around, and I always eat my lunch standing up to try to balance out all the sitting.

Some of the affects of sitting all day has on running are tight hips, stiff knees and ankles, lethargy, lower calorie burn and an overall sense of blah (that is the technical term).  The stiff hips will often cause you to change your running form and make you use your glutes less because they have not been engaged all day.  You can help alleviate some of these issues by doing a proper dynamic warm up prior to your run.  This can include high knee kicks, leg swings, carioca, butt kickers, lunges and some strides.  This will get your body ready for your workout.

Here are my numbers for today:

Time: 30:00
Distance: 3.35 miles
Pace: 8:57/m
Max Pace: 7:49/m
Calories: 334
Avg HR: 129
Max HR: 139

In the end, I didn't get any shopping done.  Why?  I need to wait until I get paid!  That is important to shopping...having money.  Then, I can start my shopping.  Honey is foremost on my list.  Still not sure what to get her...

Run for Life!!
