Day 152, 213 To Go

June 1, 2013

Ok.  The goal for today is run, bike and rest.  Nothing else.  What do you think the chances are that that actually happened?

If you said 0%, you would be right.

I got up early with the babies.  Mistake number one.  Two days before your race is the most important day.  That is when you should carbo load and when you should get the most rest.  I didn't get enough rest.  As you can see below, I was being overrun!

Then, I went for a short bike ride...less than 5 miles, so I won't bother putting the numbers down for that.  It was just to get my legs loose and to make sure the bike was in proper working order.  Then, I went for my 20 minute run.  Damn, it was hot!

Here are my numbers:

Time: 20:00
Distance: 2.05 miles
Pace: 9:47/m
Max Pace: 8:38/m
Calories: 259
Avg HR: 140
Max HR: 150

I went slow, but I don't think I could have gone much faster.  I was feeling heavy and slow.  I just hope that it is because of the heat and overall, just a down day.

I had to go pick up my race packet, and of course, Honey wanted to go and to bring EVERYBODY with us.  Because, you know, that is relaxing.  Yeah...so, we pick up the packet and end up spending some time at the part.  Not too bad.  I got all three babies on the swings and I was taking turns pushing them.  As you can imagine, pushing 4 kids on the swings is very relaxing.

They did have fun though!

Then, we decided to go get ice cream and Cold Stone Creamery. Well, I didn't want ice cream since it is not a good snack to have prior to a race, but I went for them.  When we got there, we decided to walk on the beach first...with all the kids.

Now, we didn't have towels, blankets, chairs, water diapers, a change of clothes for anyone or any common sense.  So, of course we took the entire lot onto the beach.  Not only that, I took the choo choo train cart (which you may have seen previously on my blog) into the sand.  That was not easy.  I'm pretty sure that was like a workout all by itself.

Kaylee was terrified of the water, and she was hugging me so tight...it was really sweet:

Then there was Joshua.  He had no fear.  He just ran right into the water trying to drown himself.

And Ayla and Derek liked playing in he sand.  Ayla was throwing sand on everyone.  I don't have a picture of that, unfortunately.

We finally escaped the beach and everyone was wet and full of sand.  We got a couple of chocolate milk shakes (yeah, I drank one dammit!!) and made our way home.  Then, I finally got to relax...well, after I ate and got my stuff together.

Going to be an early day folks.  Wish me luck!!

Run (and Tri) for Life!!
