Day 330, 35 To Go

November 26, 2013

Every day I write, I take a minute to look at the dwindling amount of days I have left to run to achieve my goal.  35.  That's how many days I have left.  It seems like such a small number in comparison to 330, which is how many days I have run in a row.  It is small, but it feels so big!  If I'm being honest, this is probably the first time I have really followed through with a goal.  Ok, that isn't fair exactly, but it is the first time I took a written goal, one that I worked on, and then followed through.  Does that make me lazy or incompetent or an unmotivated loser?

Don't answer that!  My point is that no, it doesn't.  It just makes me normal like everyone else out there.  I've spent my life going to school, making friends, having some fun, working, building a family and a life.  I may never have set these goals to paper, but they are goals that many of us have.  I am not big on writing things down, but I have realized that writing down your goals, or in the case of this blog, documenting your progress, is a great motivator.  Studies have shown that people who write down their goals and document their progress are more successful.  I have learned this first hand.  Even if I somehow get injured and I am unable to finish this year off, I will see it as a success.  It was a mental challenge as well as a physical one, and I am proud that I was able to get this far!  I have always had injuries, and this year is no exception.  The difference was my determination and positive outlook.  That is what got me through this.  It makes me think that if I can do this, I can do anything!

Now I just have to decide what to do next!!

Here are my numbers:

Time: 30:00
Distance: 3.06 miles
Pace: 9:48/m
Max Pace: 8:24/m
Calories: 317
Avg HR: 124
Max HR: 135

I don't usually pat myself on the back.  I'm not that kind of person, but it is important to do that once in a while.  It builds confidence.  The key is to not go overboard or you slide into conceit.  Confidence, resilience, determination and perseverance.  That's what it took to do this and that's what it takes to accomplish any difficult goal.  Think about that when you are working on your goals for 2014.  Then get out there and do it!!

Run for Life!!
