I realized that I took no pictures today on Thanksgiving. Honey may have, but I didn't. I'm not a big picture taker. I feel like I'd rather actually SEE what is happening than watch what is happening behind a screen. Also, really, how often do you go back and look at your pictures? Maybe back in the day, when pictures took real effort, you would go back and look. Back then, you had to take a picture and hope that it looked good, then you had to remove the film, take it to a store, fill out one of those stupid forms, go home and wait a few days, then go back to pick up the pictures. Half of the pictures looked like crap unless you had a really good camera. The other half were not complete crap, but close. If you got 2 or 3 good pictures out of the bunch, you were happy. So you probably would actually look at them again. Not today. Today, you probably have 500GB of pictures of your cat on your computer, let alone the 50 Terabytes of pictures and videos of your kids! So, I didn't take any pictures. This is probably a good thing because the dinner part of the day started with vomit. Yeah...I'll get back to that in a minute.
We were due at a friend's house around 4pm today, so we had most of the day to lounge, so that is what we did. I, however, did do a full Turkey Trot to head off some of the caloric damage I would later inflict upon myself. I ran 5 miles which is what I am used to running on Thanksgiving.
Here are my numbers:
Time: 43:14
Distance: 5.00 miles
Pace: 8:38/m
Max Pace: 6:51/m
Calories: 564
Avg HR: 141
Max HR: 166I was pretty happy with my pace. I haven't run more than 30 minutes in a while, and I felt pretty good!
After the run and a shower, I let Honey get ready. A couple of hours later, I was allowed to put on clothes too. Honey looked spectacular, as always, and I looked like a dude going to his friend's house for dinner. Sure, I had on a button down shirt and a clean, holeless pair of jeans, but I can't compare to Honey when she gets her dress on.
The girls looked adorable in their holiday dresses and Derek and Joshua wore matching outfits. We all snuggled tightly in the mini-van (4 babies, Honey, me and my mom) and off we went. Kaylee was a it fussy and she started to cry. We were on the street and parking when Honey took Kaylee out (before we stopped) and as soon as I put the car in park...BLAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! All over Honey!
Kaylee is a wee thing, but she made like the girl in the exorcist and sprayed Honey, herself, the car and her car seat with chunky vomit! The smell was heavenly! We cleaned up as best we could, and we made our way to the front door. Pretty much, everyone avoided us all night...I wonder if it was the stink of vomit?
Only kidding, it was a nice evening after we got there and got some food and drink in us. I didn't overeat, but that was because I had Joshua on my lap the whole time and I had to defend my food with one hand, and eat with the other, so by the time I finished my first plate, we were cleaning up and getting ready for dessert. Damn babies!!
I hope you all had a wonderful day and you got to spend it with your family and friends. I am hoping next year I can eat without a child on my lap so I can eat to my heart's content. I plan on running 10 miles next year so I can make up for not eating enough this year!!
Run for Life!!
