Honey was back out there with me today. I didn't hear a peep about her pooper. I guess it is all better. I'm afraid to ask because it might remind her about it and it will start hurting again. Can't have that!We ran for about 5 minutes before we ran into Mike and his two kids, Brianna and Mason. They love to stop us when we are out on our run and they try to make us play. I humor them for a few minutes, but then it is back to work! Ok, that is what I want to do, but it usually ends up being closer to 5 - 10 minutes.
Once we start up again, we are nice and warmed up and we start running a bit faster...yes, even Honey! She is pushing a sub 10 min mile for a bit when she realizes that we are going to fast. We stop and start a few times in the run because she can't help but go faster.
This is one of the best arguments for a warmup. If you run about 10 minutes, maybe do some drills, and take a few minutes to recover, when you start running again, you run much faster and easier. It is something I don't really do when I run for 20 minutes because there isn't really enough time, but it is a good rule of thumb to follow. I do this more on my long runs than on my short daily runs. Honey, who is still new to running, is not good at pacing, and she was running too fast for her fitness to handle, but she felt like she could run faster, and that is good too.
Take a look at our numbers:
Time: 20:00
Distance: 1.82 miles
Pace: 10:59/m
Max Pace: 6:09/m
Calories: 229
Avg HR: 105
Avg HR: 105
Max HR: 128
Sub 11 min mile for Honey! Whooo Hooo! Great job! That is a first and that is her new PR for one of our runs. She was breathing really heavy and sweating like a pig, so I could tell she was working hard. Of course, Honey will tell me that she doesn't sweat, but today, she was. A lot. When I run as hard as she was running, I sweat a lot not only when I am running, but for like 20 minutes after, even if I take a shower. So in comparison, she hardly sweats. So I'll let her think she doesn't sweat, just to be nice!!
Run for Life!!
