Day 115, 250 To Go

April 25, 2013

Today was a milestone day for Honey.  She ran the entire 20 minutes without stopping, even for one second.

Lets give her a hearty round of applause!!!!

This is significant for her, and I am very proud of her.  Not only was it the first time she ran the entire 20 minutes, it was also her fastest pace!

Beginners tend to reach a PR (personal records) very often.  This is because, as a beginner, you have a long way up.  Growth in endurance and speed come quickly.  This is great because it can be very encouraging to a new runner.  This will only happen if you work hard though.  If you skip runs or slack off in your runs, you are not going to hit PRs.

The trap that beginners need to be wary of is when these PRs and the speed and endurance gains stop coming so quickly.  This can quickly discourage new runners.  All you newbies out there have to realize that this is perfectly normal.  If you want to get better and faster, you have to work harder.  It really never gets easy if you want to get better.  Sure, you can step off the gas and just enjoy the level of fitness you have achieved and you can have a long running career.  This is perfectly ok.  If you want to get better, you have to work your ass off.  No way around it.

Here are our numbers today:

Time: 20:00
Distance: 1.65 miles
Pace: 12:08/m
Max Pace: 9:03/m
Calories: 201
Avg HR: 108
Max HR: 125

Once again, I am so proud of my Honey!  Great job today.  Keep it up!

Run for Life!!
