Day 88, 277 To Go

March 29, 2013

As we approach the next Holiday on the calendar, which I believe is Easter, Honey and I are preparing as only we know how: by eating.  Yup.  We went out and bought lots of chocolate for Derek's Easter basket and while we were at it, we bought some for ourselves.

I swear, I can't escape unhealthy food.  Seriously, if it were up to me, I would not buy ANY bad food.  I mean it.  No chips, not ice cream, no chocolate, no plain pasta, no rice, no fried foods....none of it.  Lucky for me, I have a wife who does not think like I do, so I still get to enjoy these yummy foods.  My ever expanding belly thanks her.

I can safely assume that this weekend, I will consume massive amounts of unhealthy food.  Often, us runners think we can eat whatever we want as long as we put more miles in.  This just isn't true.  Sure, when we are younger, at least, we can still stay slim and eat lots of crappy food, but that doesn't mean that we are not affected negatively by these foods.  They are high in sugar, bad fats, most are processed, etc.  Running will fix a lot of health problems in your life, but it is not a magic pill to cure all your ills, especially if you do not eat right.

I need to follow my own advice....just as soon as all the chocolate is gone.

Here are my numbers for Friday:

Time: 20:00
Distance: 2.22 miles
Pace: 9:00/m
Max Pace: 8:02/m
Calories: 283
Avg HR: 132
Max HR: 147

Another ho-hum day...nothing special to talk about other than that I ran 20 minutes again.  That would be the last 20 min run for the week.  Tomorrow I have a 15 minute and then onto Sunday where I will run more than 15...that's about as much as I can say for the moment.  It's Easter and I have a birthday party to go to on Saturday and it is going to be cold and blah, blah, blah...

Run for Life!
