Day 65, 300 To Go

March 6, 2013

Wednesday is here.  Its still not Friday.  I'm having an issue with the passage of time.  Mostly because, once again, I worked late.  Holy crap my job sucks.

But, don't feel too bad for me, because I actually have a job.  Many out there do not, and I feel for you.  Today, at work, I got to tell the people I manage how they did on their performance review and how much more money they would be making.  Luckily (for me, mostly) I have a  very good unit and everyone got pretty good news.  I like to think that it is because I am such a good manager, but the reality is that I just got lucky to have such good people in my unit.

So, I'd like to take the time to say how grateful I am to have my job.  Here I go...

I hope you got all that.  It came from my heart.

I'm a bit behind on my blogs and pressed for time, so its going to be short today.

Here are my numbers:

Time: 15:00
Distance: 1.79 miles
Pace: 8:32/m
Max Pace: 7:35/m
Calories: 230
Avg HR: 145
Max HR: 153

I picked up the pace a bit today.  I was working on my cadence.  My goal is 180 steps per minute.  The problem with that is that it is hard to run easy when your turnover is that high.  That can be a good thing, and today, it was.  I didn't want to push too hard, so I had to hold back a bit, but I checked my cadence every couple of minutes and I was able to reach 180 steps most of the time.

Your cadence will naturally be lower at slower speeds and that is ok, but the ideal is between 170 and 180.  Give it a shot the next time you run.  Count your steps for about 30 seconds.  You only need to count one foot.  If you hit 45 steps, you have achieved 180.  Go for it!

Run for life!
