Hello folks. Its Thursday. Today was a recovery day. Unlike a real recovery day where you don't do anything, I still ran (of course...duh!) but I ran nice and easy.I was a bit sore from doing some body weight squats on Tuesday, so I would have had to push really hard to run fast anyway. In fact, after my run, my legs were no longer sore. One of the benefits of a recovery run (as opposed to a recovery day where you do nothing) is that the light exercise works to flush the lactic acid from your muscles which relieves some of your soreness. Its a good tool to have in your exercise toolbox if you use it the right way.
For instance, if you ran a race the day before, perhaps running the following day is not the best way to recover. After a hard effort like a race, you want to have a complete rest day or two, depending on the length of the race. After a hard workout, though, a recovery run the next day or two is a good way to help yourself recover.
Here are my recovery numbers:
Time: 15:00
Distance: 1.45 miles
Pace: 10:20/m
Max Pace: 9:07/m
Calories: 192
Avg HR: 126
Max HR: 134
It was a nice enjoyable run, actually. I listened to ESPN radio from NY: The Michael Kay Show. I have felt a little detached from sports without my daily dose of ESPN. Sure, I could listen to a local ESPN affiliate, but I don't follow the Florida teams, nor will I. If you move and change your teams, then you weren't a fan in the first place. Since I have been here, though, I have lost touch with my football teams (Giants and Jets...and yes, I realize that you can't like two teams from the same market in the same sport...but, since I am not a huge football fan, I don't care), I haven't watched one Knicks game - and they are pretty good this year - and last year, I only got to watch the Yankee games on network TV or ESPN. That just won't do.
Yes, I have the MLB app on my phone and I can listen to the broadcasts, but I miss watching. I must look into getting the sports package so I can watch more games.
Sorry, I digress from whatever I was talking about. In fact, I don't even remember. Yes, I could read what I wrote, but I'm too lazy. Instead, I'll just say goodnight.
Run for life!!
