Day 73, 292 To Go

March 14, 2013

I am running out of things to say.  Really.  I need inspiration.  Perhaps I should sit with my now healthy four year old, Derek, who never, ever, !!!!EVER!!!!! shuts up.  Seriously.  It is amazing.  I mean, how many questions can a child ask?

Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?Why?

I read somewhere that children ask something like 300 to 400 questions a day.  I think they fell short by a few thousand.

The good news, is that Derek is feeling better, and so far, no one else is sick yet.  There is a general malaise in the house, but no one is puking their guts out yet, so that is a plus.

So, in light of the fact that I am still healthy, I decided to open it up today and make it my hard workout for the week.  I warmed up a bit before by doing some dynamic stretching so I wouldn't be running fast without any warm up which would normally consist of a 10 minute run.  It paid off and I was able to break the 2 mile barrier in my 15 minute run.  Granted, that is only like a 7:30 mile and it pales in comparison to what I would call "fast" runners, but I was happy with it, so don't ruin my fun!

Here are my numbers:

Time: 15:00
Distance: 2.02 miles
Pace: 7:25/m
Max Pace: 6:10/m
Calories: 260
Avg HR: 155
Max HR: 173

So this is my fastest 15 minutes yet, but not my fastest yet to come!  Considering I have not been doing any speed work, I feel good about it.  Soon, though, I will be doing speed work, and my expectation is that I will break 7:00...perhaps 6:30!  Yeah, the sky is the limit!  Ok, I'm not getting any younger, but its not like I'm saying I'm going to be running a 5:30 mile.  That, I'm fairly sure, is beyond my ability, even when I was 25!  You gotta accept your limitations, but you can't set any limits for yourself.

Run for life!
