Day 273, 92 To Go

September 30, 2013

Today is the beginning of the end.  Yes, today is the last day I will run 25 minutes.  Starting tomorrow, although ill prepared, I will start running 30 minutes every damn day.  Today is also Monday, so it is also just a beginning...the beginning of the work week.  Not something I want to celebrate or think about.  It is also the last day of the month which is actually and ending and not a beginning at all.  So today is the beginning of the end while also being just an end and also kind of just a beginning.

I hope you got all that.

Today also happens to be the day after a race so I'm pretty sure my run will be slow.  I do not feel sore today, but I usually am not too sore after a sprint race.  I also don't feel like I raced hard enough, so there's that.  I am in the post-race-guilt-phase where I yell at myself throughout the day because I didn't train hard enough and I didn't put in enough effort.  I am also in the post-race-I-am-going-to-train-much-harder-for-next-year's-race phase.  That means I am yelling at myself while also promising myself to train much more next year.  Hint: it never happens!

Honestly, I would like to swim more.  If I could pick one part of triathlon that I would like to train more of, it would be the swim.  Strategically, this is not the most important part to train for, unless you are in an ITU event where drafting on the bike is legal.  The bike is the longest leg of the race so, in theory, if you can improve your bike, you can improve your time the most.  The problem is that I have a hard time motivating myself to ride here in Florida.  I have no problem running and if I had a good pool to go to, I would have no problem swimming.  Its the damn bike that holds me back and it always has.  Maybe I need one of those Computrainers in my house so I can ride while watching TV.  Maybe that would work for me.  I do like TV.

Anyway, here are my numbers for today:

Time: 25:00
Distance: 2.49 miles
Pace: 10:02/m
Max Pace: 8:43/m
Calories: 249
Avg HR: 119
Max HR: 128

I am still in recovery mode and I will be for at least three days post race.  I am also struggling with what appears to be overtraining syndrome, so I also have that not going for me.  Either way, it is a 30 minute run tomorrow!

Run for Life!!
