Day 289, 76 To Go

October 16, 2013

That's right, on this day, XX years ago, Honey was born.  You can guess for yourself how old she is because if I tell you, I may never be able to run again.  So, let's just say she is older than 25 but younger than 40.  She certainly looks closer to 25 though (lucky me!)

Of course I still had to work today, although Honey tried to convince me to stop working like every 5 minutes.  You'd think as she got older, she'd become more responsible, but alas, that is not the case.  I ignored her, of course, and I continued to work.  My plan was to run during lunch, but for some reason, Honey made lunch early, so I didn't run at 12.  Then, I was all ready to run, and my mom brought over a birthday cake.  I had to eat it (like it was a chore, of course) and then I couldn't run again!  Finally, around 3, I got out there and ran.

It was hot today!  Here are my numbers:

Time: 30:00
Distance: 3.37 miles
Pace: 8:53/m
Max Pace: 6:16/m
Calories: 391
Avg HR: 139
Max HR: 158

The pace was ok, but take a look at those HR numbers.  So much different than yesterday and not much faster.  I assume it was the heat, and perhaps the full stomach, but I was struggling mightily today.  Honey even came out on her Rollerblades today!  She may not be able to run yet, but she can still roll.

She kept asking me where we were going, but I didn't tell.  I never tell surprises.  Honey, on the other hand, if you press her enough, will give you your Christmas present on Thanksgiving.  She is easy that way.  Often, I have to turn down opening presents early because otherwise, I'd have nothing to open up on Christmas...but I digress...

Work was over and we got all dressed up, and off we went.  We were just going to dinner (not that she knew that yet) but I held out until we were on the highway.  We were going to Fogo de Chao, our favorite restaurant!  It is in Orlando and it is a Brazilian Rodizio restaurant where they bring choice cuts of meat to your table and cut them right there and put them on your plate.  I can't express how good it is.  You have to appreciate meat, and Honey and I were on our best carnivorous behavior!  I ate a cow or two, at least!

After dinner, we attempted to get some Cold Stone ice cream, but we were thwarted by our GPS which was unable to express to us that the Cold Stone we were looking for was INSIDE the mall.  It had no idea, and neither did we until it was too late.  We settled for ice cream at McDonald's.

You may think that this was not that an exciting evening.  What you are missing is that we got to go out to eat without our four kids.  Nothing...and I mean NOTHING, is better than that.

Lest you think I was being cheap, I did already get Honey her birthday present when we were in Brazil.  She loves shoes and I bought her a pair of her favorite brand, Carmen Steffens.  They are very sexy and as you can imagine, stay on after all the other clothes have been taken off...

You should see them on Honey!  Sexy!!
Not as cool as running shoes, but they ain't half bad either!  Now, it is time for bed and a good night's sleep.  I have a lot of food to digest!

Run for Life!!
