Day 280, 85 To Go

October 7, 2013

Here we go again, peeps!  Monday is here.  I am not dreading it as much as I was before vacation, but I still don't like it.  At least I have FINALLY convinced Honey to go for a run again.  It's been ages since she joined me.

Unfortunately, Honey had some issues today.  First thing I should say is that I am very proud of her because she ran the full 30 minutes even though she was in pain.  The bad part is that that pain is not something you can ignore.  She has an ailment that I have struggled with for years, although I seem to have finally gotten past it.  It is something that usually affects women (I must have womanly legs or something, although I have been told I have very nice legs...for a guy!) because their leg muscles tend to not be as strong as men's.  It is called Chrondomalacia

Treatment is fairly simple.  Rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication, strengthening of the leg muscles and finally, a slow return to activities.  The biggest obstacle in all of these steps is always the patient...and their lack of patience.  Of course, there are alternate exercises that can be done to stay in shape.  Swimming is the best option, but for Honey, she will probably Rollerblade and do some Zumba.  Not sure either of these can be considered complete rest, but whatcha gonna do!

I know Honey will be back on her feet in no time.

Here are our numbers:

Time: 30:00
Distance: 2.39 miles
Pace: 12:33/m
Max Pace: 9:50/m
Calories:199
Avg HR: 101
Max HR: 115

It was an impressive run for someone who was hurting.  Honey is one tough cookie!  Currently, she is a crumbly, broken cookie, but a tough (and tasty!) cookie nonetheless!

Run for Life!!
